An Exciting Weekend of Playing!

Last night I had the pleasure of working with Bobby D and the Dixie Cats (old friends Bob DeAngelis, John McLeod, Phil Disera and new friend Lorne Nehring) at the Liberty Grand entertainment complex. The event was a fundraiser for the Assaulted Women’s Help Line, an organization that provides an essential lifeline for women fleeing from abusive relationships.

Today I will be playing with the Dixie Demons at the Royal Canadian Legion in Waterloo and tomorrow I will be playing with the Demons again at Sticky Fingers in Barrie.

Upcoming Performances

I have a number of performances coming up and I hope you can make it to one or more of them.

The first three engagements are with The Dixie Demons. On November 8, 2013 at 9:30 p.m. I will be at The Rex Hotel and Jazz Bar. On November 10, 2013 at 4:30 I will be performing for the Jazz Vespers at Christ Church Deer Park.  November 16, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. i will be performing for the The Kitchener-Waterloo Dixieland Jazz Club again with The Dixie Demons.

On December 15, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. I will be performing with Brassackwards at 3030 Dundas West.

Both groups combine a highly entertaining show with some really great musicianship and are well worth listening to!

Buckhorn Morning on ARA Luxembourg

Thanks to Pascal and jazz.com on radio ARA Luxembourg for playing “Afternoon Tune” from my jazz tuba cd, “Buckhorn Morning”. I had a chance to listen to parts of the show online and heard some great music from a number of artists. Terrific program!

Doug Burrell Buckhorn Morning

After well over a year of composing, arranging, recording, mixing and mastering it feels great to have my jazz tuba cd Buckhorn Morning released and available for sale. The CD is available through the Silverbirch Online Store in Canada as well as through CDBabyiTunes and TheJazzbox.ca.  Buckhorn Morning is a jazz CD with the tuba playing a lot of lead and playing a lot of improvised choruses as part of an eight piece ensemble. I like to think that we’ve come up with something that’s fairly unique and fun to listen to.
